I love the way that problems get solved. Today there was a post on Footnotes saying that F-spot (A very smooth looking photo management program) had a new release. One of the problems that I have with this class of software is that they store all the data in a centralized file, this means you can't move the pictures with their meta data easily. It also bothers me because I can't keep all of them in my Subversion database easily.

So, I posted a comment. And, I think that lots of good ideas came out. Basically that there are standards to put the data in the photos, but also that there needs to be a cache for reasonable search times. Makes sense to me. Now I just need someone to implemented it, oh, now we've found some of the problems with open source. :)
